Big Sky Recycling uses certified data destruction processes to securely handle personal information on donated devices. Eligible devices are professionally wiped using certified software, while devices that cannot be erased are responsibly destroyed and recycled.

Devices with reuse value may be refurbished and resold to help fund nonprofit programs supporting soldiers, veterans, and military families. Devices that cannot be reused are securely processed for responsible recycling through certified downstream recycling partners.

Yes. Big Sky Recycling accepts many broken, locked, and damaged phones, including devices with cracked screens or activation locks. Even if a phone cannot be reused, it can still be responsibly recycled. However, devices with swollen, damaged, or overheating batteries should be recycled locally for safety reasons and should not be shipped.
We accept smartphones, iPhones, cell phones, iPads, tablets, e-readers, and Apple Watches. Both working and broken devices are accepted. We do not currently accept large electronics such as televisions, desktop computers, printers, or home phones through this program.
